Volunteer Service from the Heart

Borough officials and residents expressed appreciation for the students’ hard work and strong example. “We want to thank ASEZ STAR for doing cleanups and helping our community out of love and kindness,” said Councilwoman Lorraine Pellegrine.

Jaden Harris, a high school student and first-time volunteer, shared his thoughts about the experience. “It was exciting to take part in our first ASEZ STAR event with the town,” he said. “We found a lot of broken glass in the grass, and it made me realize how even small things can affect a community. Helping to clean that up felt like we were doing something that truly matters.”

As bags of trash were collected and sidewalks cleared, it was easy to see the difference their efforts made. Events like this show the power of teamwork and service. With more students stepping up to make a difference, Elmwood Park is not only cleaner—it’s stronger.
