About Us
“But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem … to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven.”
The World Mission Society Church of God is a Christian non-denominational church that follows the teachings of Christ in the Bible. It is the only church that believes in Elohim God—God the Father and God the Mother—based on biblical teachings.
Christ Ahnsahnghong established the Church of God in 1964 in South Korea as the place where all people could learn and follow the teachings of the Early Church that had been lost throughout history. The Church of God observes the seven feasts of God, including the New Covenant Passover, and commemorates the Sabbath day on Saturday.
Since its inception, the Church of God has grown rapidly to have more than 7,000 locations in 175 countries with more than 2.7 million registered members. In New Jersey, the main locations of the Church of God are in Belleville, Bogota, and Ridgewood.
The Church of God has been a leader in raising awareness on the importance of volunteerism as an act of love. In New Jersey, when Church of God members are not diligently studying the Bible, they are finding ways to serve their neighbors. Members selflessly participate in different volunteer activities in an effort to resemble Christ.
In the aftermath of hurricanes Irene and Sandy, Church of God members were an invaluable asset to their communities. They went door-to-door in various towns to help residents cope with the disasters and help them clean out their homes. Soon after that, 1,200 Church of God members received CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training and became reliable first responders in time of need. Members continually participate in environmental protection projects, blood drives, smiles campaigns, and much more.
For its devotion to serving the global village, the Church of God has received numerous awards from government officials and community organizations. In 2014, then-Mayor Kathleen Cole presented a proclamation on behalf of the borough of Pompton Lakes. And most recently, the Church of God was presented with a proclamation by Mayor Francis Womack of North Brunswick for their devotion to maintaining a clean environment in Central New Jersey.
Three times, the Church of God in the United States has been the recipient of the President’s Call to Service Award. In 2016, The Church of God in the United Kingdom was the recipient of the most prestigious award for organizations serving their communities—the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. Through this award, the Church of God also gained the title of MBE—Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire—a title that is recognized by 52 members of the Commonwealth of Nations, including Canada, Australia, India, and Singapore.
