Passover: The Way to Escape Disasters
It’s no secret the Bible prophesies about many disasters, especially disasters in the last days. However, this warning from God should not alarm us because with the notice of disaster also comes the message of salvation. The Bible explains that we can be protected from these disasters if we celebrate the Passover.
Protection From Harm
“Wait! Don’t harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants.”
Revelation 7:3 (NLT)
God places His seal on His people to protect them from harm. And the book of John explains what is the seal of God.
“But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given me [Jesus] the seal of his approval.”
John 6:27 (NLT)
Jesus Christ has the seal of God; so, if we are one with Jesus, we can also have God’s seal.
“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.”’
John 6:54-56
When we eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus, we become one with Christ and therefore share in the seal of God that Jesus possesses.
Receiving the Seal of God
On the first day of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
Matthew 26:17-19
Here, Jesus tells His disciples to prepare to celebrate the Passover.
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Matthew 26:26-28
The Passover bread is Jesus’ flesh and the Passover wine is His blood. So, when we celebrate the Passover, we become one body with Jesus, and receive God’s seal of protection. Therefore, the secret of salvation and protection from harm is the Passover.
The Power of the Passover
God demonstrated the Passover’s power through historical accounts in the Old Testament.
“The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”
Exodus 12:10-12
In the time of Exodus, God promised the Israelites that disasters would pass over them as long as they kept the Passover. As God promised, when disaster struck Egypt during the plague of the firstborn, God protected the Israelites who kept the Passover.
By keeping the Passover, which is the seal of God, God will surely protect us from harm. The World Mission Society Church of God celebrates the New Covenant Passover just as Jesus Christ did 2,000 years ago. Visit your local Church of God and celebrate the Passover to receive God’s seal of protection.
